This is strictly a preferrence thing though. It isn't just a stiff suspension, it's crazy stiff!!! In contrast, a car like BMW's M3 which is stiff just the right way (drive one to get the feel). I wouldn't ever dream of driving something like that as a daily driver. Now I am not so sure of how great a bargain the Speed was. Then came the Mazda 3 and I got the top end model of that for 1500 less. Love rotary motors, respect turbo motors, but think great handling is the real "shiznit" so don't go there.Īt the time the Speed came out it was suppose to be a total bargain. The Mazda 3 does a better job of taking care of 4 people than the RX8 does at much less cost. It is thirstier, and driving wise much more idiot proof. The Miata is much more fun to drive than the 8. One is timeless.the other is sort of "techno weird" On the other hand.the Miata and the RX8 are completely different cars. Planning on a road trip? The Mazda 3 is a better choice.ĪLso the Lava/Sunset Orange is WAY nicer than the MSP "Spice Orange" It doesn't have the same level of comfort, fit and finish as the newer design. On the other hand, it is a 1999 design, and it shows. Perhaps one of the best handling front drive cars out there. The MS Protege is very tweaked, springs, shocks, suspension bushings, shifter, small turbo, world's smallest intercooler. If you want to track it, or Autocross I think the MSP is the better choice. I think it works out to what you want to do with the car. I think I'm starting to post way too often.
